![]() ![]() Cash fare collection resumes on trains beginning Monday, July 6.Bus service has been operating on a regular weekday schedule since Monday, June 8. Rail and light rail services will resume full weekday service on Monday, July 6 providing added capacity to improve distancing on board vehicles, which aligns with “The Road Back”, New Jersey’s roadmap for restoring economic health through public health. “We’re pleased to be able to safely reinstate this purchase option for our rail customers and look forward to restoring it for bus customers in the coming weeks when the installation of safety barriers is completed, protecting customers and bus operators.” “The health and safety of our customers and employees has been, and remains, our top priority since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic,” NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin Corbett said. ![]() Customers are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets prior to boarding using the NJ TRANSIT mobile app and ticket vending machines (TVMs). NJ TRANSIT will resume accepting cash fares on board buses in the coming weeks as protective barriers are installed near the bus operator. Cash transactions on board trains will be subject to the previous $5 surcharge policy. The cash option was temporarily suspended as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.
